Birthday Cake
One of the most overlooked items when donating to a food pantry is ingredients for making a birthday
special. To make a kit, assemble these items, all of which can be purchased at a Dollar Store.
Box of Vanilla Cake Mix (with a can of Sprite or Orange Soda)
Box of Chocolate Cake Mix (with a can of Coke or Dr. Pepper)
Can of frosting (chocolate, vanilla or cream cheese)
8” cake pan
Candles and/or sprinkles
Use birthday bags or solid gift bags to hold all of the other ingredients. Place cake mix, frosting and can
of soda in the gift bag. Add sprinkles and/or candles. Print the the 6” x 6” instructions found on The
Cookie School Facebook page or at www.thecookieschool.com and attach to the outside of the bag. It is
helpful to the volunteers if you write the flavor of the cake and frosting on the bottom of the tag. Deliver
to the food pantry of your choice. For less than five dollars, you will make someone feel really special on
their birthday! It’s one of the things that fuels us as bakers. If you make some cake kits, please post
pictures on The Cookie School Facebook page as well as your own page and challenge three generous
hearts you know to do the same! We can make a difference, one birthday at the time.
